Last Saturday, September 20, 2025, Cala Millor was wrapped in emotion, effort, and solidarity with the celebration of the I Solidarity Race Hipotels, part of the “Las Fiestas del Turista” program. An initiative that, beyond promoting sport, aimed to bring together locals and visitors around a common goal: supporting those who most need it. The full €3,100 collected was donated to the association Llevant en Marxa, committed to improving living conditions in disadvantaged communities.
The routes: two options for all levels
With a shared start from Parc de la Mar, by the sea, runners could choose between two very different routes, designed to suit all levels:
· The short race, 4.6 km: ascended to the Punta de n’Amer Castle. A short but steep stretch, ideal for those just beginning in athletics or preferring a more accessible distance.
· The long race, 8 km: shared the initial climb with the shorter one, but after reaching the castle it descended towards Sa Coma Beach, then went along the bike lane of Avinguda Baladres to the Hipotels Don Juan Hotel, and finally returned to Parc de la Mar. A course that combined demanding stretches with more technical ones, perfect for those seeking a challenge in an incomparable natural setting.
Both routes featured strategic refreshment points: at the top of the castle, in front of Hipotels Bahía Cala Millor, and at Playa de Sa Coma. Water, encouragement, and smiles were ever present for the runners.
Athletes, clubs and much more than competition
Among the runners, participation stood out from local clubs such as Malalts de Turmell, the Club Atletismo Son Servera (CASS) and the Club Atletismo Marga Roig, who brought experience, pace and a lot of camaraderie to the day. Although many came chasing a performance, others simply wanted to enjoy, walk or share time in good company.
And although many ran to better themselves or compete, others did so simply to share, enjoy or contribute to a cause that unites. At the finish line, the atmosphere said it all: hugs, applause and the satisfaction of having been part of something special.
Prizes, raffles and music to close the day
At the end of the race, prizes were awarded to the first three finishers in each category (female, male and junior), with a total of 13 recognised winners who took the podium.
But the celebration didn’t end there: a solidarity raffle was held among the participating bibs, with prizes offered by a wide group of collaborators, among them:
Melchor Mascaró, QuirónSalud, DMD Placa Acústica, Rafa Nadal Academy, Todo Montaje Constructora, Montajes UNO, DIOCO, Muebles Miguel Sureda, I2M, GAMMA Santandreu Sureda, S’Estanyol ATLEET, Frutas Servera, CAMP ROIG Planificacions, LLULL Segur, GISPERT, CaixaBank, Ame, La Cabaña, Sa Punta Restaurant, Es Molí Restaurant, Mic Mac, EspaiSalut, Mallorca Wellness, Coca‑Cola, San Miguel, Aqua Rituals Experience Mallorca and Solán de Cabras.
During the award ceremony and the raffle, the public enjoyed cold drinks, snacks and music, in a relaxed atmosphere that extended the celebration until sunset.
Acknowledgements that cross the finish line
None of this would have been possible without the enthusiasm and the work of so many people and entities. From the volunteers, always attentive at the crossings, at the refreshment points and at the finish line, to the essential support of the Tourism Consortium, the Town Council of Sant Llorenç des Cardassar and the Town Council of Son Servera.
And, of course, thanks to all the people who laced up their shoes, who cheered from the sidewalks, who contributed with their bib or who simply came to enjoy the atmosphere.
This is just the beginning
The I Solidarity Race Hipotels has marked a before and after. Because when sport is combined with values, every step has a purpose. And this is just the beginning: may many more editions come, with more runners, more community and more solidarity.
